Bachelors in Life Sciences
Biotechnology, Microbiology & Chemistry (Bt.MC.)
Biotechnology is all set to become one of the most important fields of this century. SSR is one of the first colleges in the Nizamabad to have started this course.
First Year
Biotechnology curriculum includes about Cell biology and Genetics and Bio informatics. Cell structure and division, prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell, mendelian genetics, linkage and recombination, structure and function of Nucleic acids, DNA replication, DNA damage and repair, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics.
Second Year
Students learn about Biochemistry & molecular biology techniques which includes about biomolecules-carbohydrates, aminoacids, protein, lipids, enzymes. Metabolisms include glycolysis, krebs cycle, gluconeogenesis, genetic material and Biostastics.
Third Year
Students learn in detail about applied fields of Biotechnology which includes Plant biotechnology, Animal biotechnology, Environmental sciences, Industrial biotechnology. Genome organisation, Protein biosynthesis, Gene regulation, DNA technology, Immunology-Cells & Organs of Immunity system, Antigens –Antibodies, Major histocompatibility, transplantation and antibody diversity.
Course Benefits
They are eligible for post graduation in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry and also eligible for Genetics, Bio-chemistry, Forensic sciences and M.Sc.(life sci./Plant Sci/Ani. Sci) of HCU. Students can also take up Bioinformatics as a career option.
Opportunities
Biotechnology students in India and abroad may find employment opportunities in any Govt. based entities such as Universities, Research institutes or at pvt centres as a research scientist. Alternatively they may find employment in specialized biotechnology companies and Microbiology related companies such as pharmaceutical, food manufacturers and agricultural companies.
Eligibility
Candidates who have passed with IPE conducted by the Board of Intermediate, A.P., or any other examination recognized as equivalent there to with BiPC group with a minimum of 40% aggregate marks are eligible for admission to Bt.M.C I Year Course. Candidates from vocational stream should have passed the bridge course inBiology, Chemistry.
Fees
Rs. 22,000 per year. In addition to the above the candidates have to pay special fee like, IUTF, SWF, Affiliation Fee as prescribed by University. The college may enhance the fee payable which will be intimated to the students well in advance at the time of admission.
